Using excavators and dump trucks, the sand was harvested along the breakwater at low tide and stockpiled at Point Malcom boat ramp. This contract has since evolved into purchasing sand through various quarries to replenish West Beach.

SCOPE OF WORKS

• Semi trucks were loaded using a loader fitted with scales, the material was hauled 16km to West Beach boat ramp where it was tipped off and reloaded into 40 tonne dump trucks and spread in the designated zones on West Beach.
• This process was carried out whilst the beaches were still open to the public, making safety the highest priority for the project.
• Extensive traffic and pedestrian management plans were in place to ensure all public and project associated personnel were always safe.
• An estimated 800,000m3 has been hauled by Buttrose Earthmovers since our first engagement with DEW in 2016
